April 08th, 2017

This past month, we started a series of talks with our Alas de Amor students and their parents about the importance of family unity. Nowadays, we see that the family has become less and less important in our society. For some people, “family” is just a concept or an idea and not a reality.  It seems that we have taken for granted a precious gift from God: our families.

In April, a youth group from the church “Juan 3:16” spoke to our community about the need for parents to care for their children, as well as reminded our students of the need to be prudent/wise as they take decisions. They based their talk on Luke 1:17:

And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

We wanted to remind the Palomas community that God created our families to love and support each other in daily life, help each other through ups and downs and, most importantly, to praise God in unity. We plan to continue sharing God’s plan for them, as individuals and as families, to the people of Palomas. We want to share with them the great things God can continue to do in Palomas if we obey God’s word.

We also had a special talk with our high school seniors and juniors about their goals for the future. We want to motivate our students to continue their education now that they have the opportunity to do so in their own town. Eunice Herrera and Carolina Teran shared with the students their personal experiences, and provided them with useful information on career options. We want to make sure our students know they can go further in their education and that any goal they have can be reached if they work to obtain it. The students shared with them their professional career goals, and where they would like to study.
